..At Selhurst and Upton we'd rot. We see no reason, for one more season away from our Valley not forgot.

CAFCCAMEHOMEDecember 5th 2012 - CAS Trust Launch & BTTV 20

Last year we were pleased to be able to hold our launch event and also celebrate the 5th December Back to the Valley 20 years occasion in Bartram's with several supporters groups generously supporting a joint event rather than hold their own.  It was also well supported by  Charlton egends Mark Kinsellla, Keith Peacock, Gary Nelson, Steve Gritt and Bryan Kinsey, and featured an appearance by many of the Valley Party candidates and supporters - who were presented with our roll of honour for contributions to Charlton Athletic. CAFC management were in upheaval at the time and no official events were planned, although Richard Murray chucked a few quid behind the bar at Bartram's. This year marks a welcome return to normal service.

Valley Party Leader Barry Nugent says a few words

Why is Back to the Valley important to so many Charlton Fans?

The date of our return to the Valley is something very close to many Addicks' hearts. As many will of course know it marked the culmination of huge efforts by many over a number of years to return us to our spiritual home in SE7. The event is a symbol for what can be achieved when a community stands as one, and fights for what it believes in. In essence it is a major part of the Charlton story and what for many makes us a special club. It acts as a point in our history which reminds us who we are and what this club is all about.

A bonfire to remember in 1988

The original poem intact below:

Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, guy, t'was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.

By God's mercy he was catch'd
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.

And what shall we do with him?
Burn him!
