Charlton Steel 6th round fixture March 8th – FA Cup 5rd #swfc 1-2 cafc

Chris Powell wrote another chapter in the annals of the Addick away days with one to remember last night - winning them another visit to Sheffield

The former CAFC Premiership player, England Cap, and now manager with a League 1 trophy under his belt, lead Charlton to yet another of many away victories in his tenure.  What is also stunning about this victory is that the Addicks had just beaten big spenders QPR at home 2 days earlier, with captain Johnny Jackson taking part in both matches. Also impressive were Cousins and Poyet two of Charlton's Academy debutants this season.

powellbarsOut of favour Callum Harriot lead the scoring with a long range effort that was cancelled out by Wednesdays new signing Leon Best from Blackburn. The Addicks however were not to be beaten and dominated periods of the match, having 2 shots off the posts. Fortune also favoured when a bizarre rebound off the bar came back down over the line to be scooped up by the returning Hamer, who also impressed later on when he stopped a deflected effort. Charlton's luck continued as the goal barren Church surged onto a cross which appeared to come off part of his body putting the Addicks in the lead once more and held it to  win through to the next round.

Charlton will face League 1's Sheffield United away on the weekend of the 8th March which was due to see a home fixture against Watford that will now be moved. Should Charlton with the 6th round we estimate a total earnings of around £3m which is around half CAFCs annual deficit predictions. So far only the matches  including Man City vs Wigan (Sunday 3pm) and Arsenal vs Everton (Saturday 12:45pm) are due to be televised, other than that Hull are due to play Sunderland.
