“Soft terrorism” – CAST urges Duchatelet to apologise

CAST has written to Roland Duchatelet today (May 2nd) as follows:

Dear Roland Duchatelet,

The Charlton Athletic Supporters Trust (CAST) are dismayed to read your recent comments describing the action of Charlton supporters who met with staff at The Belgian Embassy in London as "soft terrorism".

Just over two years ago in March 2017 Charlton supporter PC Keith Palmer was murdered in an act of terrorism at The Houses of Parliament in London. In the light of this and the recent horrific terror events in Sri Lanka and New Zealand your depiction of a civilised conversation with your country's representatives as terrorism was grossly insensitive.

We urge you to consider issuing an apology for your intemperate remarks which have once again brought our club into disrepute.

Yours sincerely

Richard Wiseman  (Chair - CAST)
