The pre-season friendly fixtures are out and, having finished the season on a high at Wembley, we would be expecting to approach these games with rekindled enthusiasm. Additionally, the Championship fixtures will be published on June 20th and players report back for training a week or so after that.

We can only hope that Roland Duchatelet really understands that it was Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson who created the special bond between the team and the supporters which was there for all to see and enjoy in the play-offs. If he doesn't recognise the priceless value of that, and the club finds itself having to recruit a new management team in the next few weeks, the dismay and anger of Charlton fans will be unprecedented.
