Welcome to our 340 new members

Nearly three hundred and fifty Charlton supporters have signed up for membership of CAST since the middle of March. Membership now stands at 1424.

If you are one of these new members (or a former member returning) we'd like on behalf of all members to offer you a very warm welcome. You should by now have received a copy of our last annual report and your share certificate should soon be with you if you haven't already received it.

As a member organisation we are of course delighted that so many fans have signed up and we celebrate every new membership as a vote of confidence in CAST as the voice of supporters. However, we also realise that the growth in numbers is largely driven by the increasing anxiety that fans currently feel about the future of our club. It is difficult to predict how events will unfold over the next weeks and months but one thing we are sure of is that the best way to ensure a positive future is for the club to have a thriving, engaged and united fan base. Your membership of CAST is crucial to this.

Let us give you a little bit of background. CAST is set up as a community benefit society under model rules devised by our parent organisation The Football Supporters Association (formerly Supporters Direct). Our constitution can be seen in full here: https://www.castrust.org/about/constitution/ but in a nutshell we are a democratic organisation controlled by its members and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority with the mission to protect, preserve and promote Charlton Athletic for future generations and with the formal purpose:

"to be the vehicle through which a healthy, balanced and constructive relationship between the Club and its supporters and the communities it serves is encouraged and developed. The business of the Society is to be conducted for the benefit of the community served by the Club and not for the profit of its members"

The current CAST board comprises nine supporters with a combined total of 316 years supporting Charlton Athletic. You can find out who we are here:

https://www.castrust.org/about/meet-the-board/

Any CAST member can stand for election to the board provided their nomination is supported by two existing members. Nominations open in July every year ahead of the AGM which is held in October or November.

The board welcomes an active relationship with our members and we would encourage you always to contact us with your thoughts, ideas, criticisms and praise via:  secretary@castrust.org

Together we are stronger. If you are not a member or you know someone who isn't it is simple to join: https://www.castrust.org/join/
