MPs question football bosses

On Tuesday this week Premier League CEO Richard Masters and EFL chairman Rick Parry appeared today before Parliament’s cross-party Culture, Media and Sport Committee. MPs quizzed the pair on the need for an independent regulator and the state of football finances.

The committee hearing covered:

  • parachute payments
  • the need for an independent regulator
  • whether points deductions make league tables meaningless
  • the Saturday blackout and women's football
  • the situation at Reading FC

Eltham MP Clive Efford put questions on the financial disparity between the Premier League and The Championship.
