Complaints raised about policing

As mentioned previously on our Fan's Forum report, we raised a number of complaints from fans about the policing at the recent derby match at Selhurst Park which we and others feel was completely innappropriate and counter productive; as well as condemning all incidents of bad behaviour amongst fans. CAFC have to their credit responded as below and raised the issue. See full article on CAFC.co.ukSP70858-12

"The club has also received many complaints from supporters regarding incidents during and after the game, with concern voiced about both the behaviour of Charlton fans and the actions of the police.

The Metropolitan Police will also host a public meeting after numerous Addicks supporters complained to the club about the day’s policing operation.

The police initially permitted supporters to leave the stadium, but then barricaded away fans in a side road behind the Arthur Wait Stand to avoid any confrontations with home supporters.

Officers then escorted fans to Norwood Junction railway station regardless of where they wanted to go, leading to considerable anger as supporters travelled away from where cars had been parked and in the opposite direction to their route home.

The police have since confirmed that they will investigate the post-match events and will hold a public meeting between supporter representatives of Charlton, Palace, residents local to Selhurst Park and senior police officers.

“We will be following up a number of complaints we have received about the policing on the day,” said Mick.
