Addicks Finally Safe #CAFC 3-1 #WFC

Two spectacular efforts from Harriot and another from Captain Jackson saw Charlton reach safety last night

If ever there was proof needed that goals win matches last night was one of those occasions.  Callum Harriot is once again displaying the talent we saw last season both as provider and now goal scorer, in immaculate timing for the end of season.

Fans may debate whether Charlton needed to be in this position as they seemed to be more of a mid-table side before the departure of loanee Stewart, then Alnwick, Stephens and Kermorgant in the window. Replacements mainly via Roland Duchatelet's network and one signing from elsewhere failed to make an impact on the goal tally and notably didn't feature in tonights win.

One signing that has made a difference would appear to be Jose Riga. He has managed to build on the solid defence established by Chris Powell and despite a fixture overload. In very challenging circumstances he has got every gram of effort and determination from a fairly thin squad to achieve safety and another year of football in the championship.

Importantly what Riga has achieved is finally turning around the goal drought that had so blighted the Addicks this year. Marvin Sordell and Callum Harriot have simply not looked like scoring, who knows if there was more time what he might achieve.

Charlton fans will be watching closely to hear news on new players and contracts for existing ones now that safety is secured, as well as we hope a resumption of engagement with fans.

Well done to all those concerned, and well done to all Charlton fans who literally roared the reds  on to victory against a strong and physical Watford team.
