Addicks Are you Stayen or Goin’? #CAFCinEurope – Fans head for Belgian tournie
Charlton fans will head to Europe this weekend as the Addicks take part in The Stayen Cup
The competition is a tournament between clubs in the Duchatelet Network. Travel to the continent is clearly one more feature that Charlton fans will get used to being part of a network of clubs mainly owned by parent company Staprix, and a number of fans are believed to be heading over for the games.
Charlton will play two matches
The first a 45 minute game against Liege on Saturday night
The second a full ninety minutes against Sint-Truden on Sunday
The host ground Stayen is the newly redeveloped 14,000 seater stadium of Sint-Truden (a club formerly owned by Charlton's owner) which also features a hotel - although the link up would support the suggestion he still has influence at club.
Another club in attendance but not owned by network parent company Staprix is Hungarian club Ujpest. As well as Standard Liege, also playing will be German club Carl Zeiss Jena and Spanish club AD Alcorcon all owned by Staprix.
