Michael Morrison yesterday evening penned a new 2 year deal to extend his stay at Charlton
The popular central defensive stalwart became the 4th of the senior first teamers who were offered renewals over the last year to extend, joining Chris Solly, Rhoyce Wiggins and Johnny Jackson in extending his future at the club. Keeper Ben Hamer, and other central defender Dorian Dervite left for pastures new for nothing as their contracts expired, while Yann Kermorgant and Dale Stephens left for fees in the January window. A large number of out of favour players were also allowed to leave when their contracts also expired this term, many of whom helped get Charlton back to tier 2 by winning the League 1 title, and to maintain the clubs status in the Championship.
As reported yesterday, the third runner up player of the year Morrison joins new signing Igor Vetokele, and Liege year long loan Yoni Buyens in a new look first team.
It will no doubt be interesting to Charlton fans to see who else new Coach Bob Peeters manages to bring in to a new look Charlton side, marking the start of a new era at the club with a big continental influence in play. Despite offers being made Charlton have so far failed to sign any English based players, of course that may change over coming weeks. If aquisitions continue Addicks should be very much looking forward to the season to come.
