Charlton fans are hoping today Big Bobby Peeters will save them from years of misery
No, I'm not suggesting he goes and cleans the East stand toilets - its Charlton's abysmal TV performances over the years. The curse of the telly, not just that SKY rarely televise our outside London away games, but that the Addicks rarely get a result. The SKY certainly is the limit in SE7.
Charlton fans may prefer to go Christmas shopping today, not because their inter web connection is slow, and not even cos they can watch the match from the armchair, but because of the oh so public humiliations of TV appearances.
There's not much to report on the playing side as the Addicks entertain the Tractor Boys from Ipswich at 12:15 today. although Vetokele's injury is still causing concern, hopefully he will play and impress the watching TV audience.
Despite drawing with local rivals Millwall last week, Charlton are still 2 points off the top 6 and only 4 off second place, a 3-0 win could see them go level with Ipswich in 3rd, but 4 clear goals would be needed to replace them - so its a bit of a six pointer. Oh well we can dream right?
The form of George Tucadean would seem to be key for the Addicks, the enigmatic Romanian frontman has a huge opportunity today to silence his detractors, after he was 'nudged' off the ball when about to secure a win for the reds against local rivals last week. If he can give Vetokele (due a goal) the vital support and freedom he needs, as well as maybe bagging on of his own, who knows what might happen to Charlton's fortunes this month, and his own the next.. Also due a goal is captain Jackson.
Ipswich's can go second and replace Bournemouth who play Millwall today. Ones to watch for them are: Murphy on 11! and McGoldrick on 5.
Prediction: Charlton edge it.
Don't forget you can still get TNT 8 outside the ground today, but only 1000 left!
