Women’s team at The Valley this Sunday 2pm

Grace Coombs hopes the Charlton women’s team can showcase their talents in front of a bumper crowd when they take on Cardiff City at The Valley on Sunday (2pm).

The Addicks vie with their Welsh counterparts for a place in the FA Women’s Premier League Cup final against Sheffield FC.

It will be the first time the women’s team have played a competitive game in SE7 since 2003, although they have played two end-of-season friendlies there in recent years.

For centre back and Charlton supporter Coombs, it will be her first time playing on the hallowed turf, having been playing and studying at the University of Massachusetts for those two previous occasions.

“I haven’t played there yet, they played there when I left, so I’m really excited for it,” she said. “Obviously supporting them as well, I’ve been down there so many times to watch games and been there so much so it will be great for me to actually get the chance to play there. All the girls are really excited for it as well. Hopefully we can get a few people down there, get a big crowd and show that we’re worthy of people coming to watch us.”

Entry to the game is £5 for adults; £2 for concessions and Charlton Athletic season ticket holders.
