On April 16th, a number of CAS Trust members (including Chairman Steve Clarke, 60) will be taking part in the annual nine mile sponsored walk from Sparrows Lane training ground to The Valley in aid of The Upbeats - The Community Trust Down's Syndrome team.
In these depressing times to be a Charlton supporter this is an opportunity to get behind something positive. This is Charlton supporters doing what they do best - uniting behind a common cause and bringing about constructive change.
Helping raise funds and awareness for the CACT Down’s syndrome project, Charlton Upbeats Day consists of a new and improved 9 mile walk from the CAFC training ground to The Valley, led by Charlton legends and assisted by accredited walking volunteers. Bob Bolder, Simon Webster and Paul Mortimer are already signed up.
The day coincides with the Charlton Athletic home fixture against Derby County. The walking groups will set off at 9.00am from Sparrows Lane, before arriving at The Valley 9 miles and 3 and a half hours later.
All participants will then have the opportunity to support The Upbeats in a curtain raiser fixture against Derby County’s Down’s syndrome team, before watching Charlton Athletic in their Championship fixture at 3.00pm.
If actually doing the walk seems a tad too strenuous, it couldn't be simpler to support this fantastic initiative through sponsorship which is done through a generic fundraising page at:
