EFL clubs to review conduct of owners

At a meeting last week EFL clubs:
  • Agreed to close the summer transfer window when the season starts (to be formally agreed next February)
  • Agreed to consider a clearer definition of a full-strength team as "containing at least 10 outfield players from the previous team sheet" (to be formally agreed next February)
  • Rejected the idea of allowing five substitutes
  • Agreed to consultation about the problem of the conduct of club owners and the reputational damage this can cause to the EFL.  To consider whether existing regulations are sufficient or whether further reforms are required.

We hope that the consultation process will include representatives of supporters - either through Supporters Direct or via clubs' Supporters Trusts.
