Sports Minister replies re conduct of owners review

CAS Trust has been working with Supporters Direct over the last few months to lobby the EFL to ensure that supporters groups have an opportunity to contribute to the current EFL review of the conduct of club owners.

We have worked in conjunction with Matt Pennycook MP who wrote on our behalf in March to EFL Chief Executive Shaun Harvey; Minister for Sport & Civil Society Tracey Crouch MP, and Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Damien Collins.

Shaun Harvey replied on March 23rd to say that he would be putting a series of recommendations to the EFL clubs at their summer conference in June and that these "could, of course, include wider consultation"

Tracey Crouch has now replied to Matt Pennycook. She notes that "there are a number of clubs that have been badly let down by their owners in recent times".

She says: "I will be meeting with the CEO of the EFL shortly to discuss the EFL's responsibility for regulating the ownership of their clubs and to find out more about the owners conduct review and how supporters groups are being consulted on this."
