If you are interested in attending the parliamentary debate on safe standing on 25 June:
All debates resulting from an e-petition are known as Westminster Hall debates and take place in the Grand Committee Room in the Palace of Westminster. This is located on the upper level off Westminster Hall. Step free access is available.
The debate has been allocated a 3-hour slot, starting at 4.30pm.
In addition to the debate itself, we have secured used of Committee Room 16 from 2.30pm until 6pm, where we will be setting up a rail seat and some supporting display materials, so that MPs can be invited to come along ahead of the debate for some last-minute briefing. If they are in favour of safe standing, they may also like to take this opportunity to have a photo taken with a rail seat and/or some of their constituents to share on social media.
Anyone can access the Palace of Westminster, so please feel free to contact your MP and to ask them to meet you in Committee Room 16 in addition to speaking at the debate.
A 'fighting fund' has been set up to help cover some of the costs of the campaign (the printing, for instance, was over £260 and the mailing £422). Here's the link: https://www.gofundme.com/ safestanding
Everyone planning to come on 25 June should enter the Palace of Westminster via the Cromwell Green Entrance. Visitor Assistants will be on hand to provide directions to the committee room and/or debating chamber.
