Dalman walks away from Charlton purchase talks

The Evening Standard reports today that Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman has walked away from talks with Roland Duchatelet about the purchase of Charlton Athletic in the face of a price hike by the Belgian since promotion to The Championship. This contradicts assurances to fans at The Fans Forum by Duchatelet's representative Lieven de Turck that no such increase would occur.

Yet another chapter in this bizarre story. It was only a few months ago that Duchatelet said he would give the club away for free and that he was only concerned to be paid the value of the property of The Valley and the Sparrows Lane training ground. We would be grateful for any explanation of why the value of these properties should have increased as a result of the team's success.

Is Patrick Bauer now the villain?
