After consultation with CAST, Greenwich & Woolwich MP Matt Pennycook has written to EFL Chairman Rick Parry with his concerns about the current situation at Charlton Athletic.
"The situation at Wigan Athletic in my view serves as a warning about what can happen given the deficiencies in how English football is currently regulated. However, setting aside the need for a fan-led review of the existing regulatory regime, I would be grateful if you could:
- Update me as to what progress has been made with regard to the EFL’s investigation into the takeover of CAFC by ESI in January and when you expect that investigation to conclude;
- Let me know when the EFL expects to make a decision with regard to its Owners and Directors Test and in relation to whether the owner has sufficient funds; and
- Commit to greater transparency with CAFC supporters with regard to both of the above processes."
