Richard Cawley reports that Thomas Sandgaard is contemplating setting up an advisory group of fans:
CAST are currently in dialogue with Thomas Sandgaard with a view to pursuing a number of strategic initiatives in partnership with the club. We look forward to discussing with him the terms of reference he envisages an advisory group might adopt.
It is important for any football club to have mechanisms for listening to and understanding the feelings and opinions of its fans and we support all efforts to facilitate feedback in a structured fashion.
We also believe that the knowledge, skills and dedication of supporters can bring massive added value to a football club if harnessed in the right way and we will be urging Thomas to ensure that fan engagement goes beyond focus group discussion level and into a serious commitment to strategic planning and partnership working.
In the past, fans have played a central role in building attendances at the Valley. Charlton Athletic led the way in football with anti-racism initiatives and more recently with embracing diversity through support for the Proud Valiants.
We are delighted to be able to look ahead to a more positive future of working positively with the club, putting the years of protest and distance firmly behind us.
