With twelve new signings this season and no chance to see them play live some supporters may be struggling to keep up. Here is a brief run down of our new recruits:

CONOR WASHINGTON - age 28

Striker signed on a two year deal having previously played for Peterborough (27 goals in 82 games) in League One and QPR (13 goals in 92 games) in The Championship. Was on loan at Hearts last season. Northern Ireland international.

ALEX GILBEY - age 25

Midfielder, signed on a three year deal.  Has played most of his football at League One level or below with over 200 appearances for Colchester and Milton Keynes. Played 15 games for Wigan in The Championship in 2016-17

CHRIS GUNTER - age 31

Full back. Signed on a two year deal. Joined Tottenham from Cardiff for £4m in 2008 but played only five games. Has since played over 450 times in The Championship for Reading, Forest and Cardiff and has not played below Championship level before.

OMAR BOGLE - age 27

Signed on a one year deal. Prolific goal scorer with Solihull and Grimsby (94 goals in 179 games) between 2011-17. Has since represented Wigan, Cardiff, Peterborough, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Den Haag  but rarely playing more than a handful for each and scoring 13 in 76.

RYAN INNIS - age 25

Centre back. Signed on a two year deal. Been at Crystal Palace since 2013 but just one appearance in the EFL cup. Has played 95 games for a number of clubs on loan at League One level or lower. Scored his first goal (for Newport County) last season. Has had off field problems which hopefully he can put behind him.

MARCUS MADDISON - age 27

Midfielder. Signed on a one year deal.  Started at Newcastle but didn't break through and has been at Peterborough in League One for the last six seasons where he made 212 appearances (52 goals). Was on loan at Hull for the last seven games of last season - the highest level he has played at.

BEN WATSON - age 35

Midfielder, Signed on a one year deal. 169 appearances for Palace (including 21 in Premier League). Played 71 games for Wigan in Premier League plus 34 in The Championship and scored winning goal in FA Cup final 2013. Further spells at WBA, Watford and Nottingham Forest for whom he played 45 times last season.

ANDREW SHINNIE - age 31

Attacking midfielder signed ON LOAN from Luton. Was at Rangers from 2006-11 before joining Birmingham and playing 67 games in The Championship over four years. Was part of the Luton team which gained promotion from League 2 to The Championship in two seasons and played 21 games in The Championship last season.

AKIN FAMEWO - age 21

Signed ON LOAN from Norwich. Lewisham born centre half started at Luton and played 1 game for Norwich last season in The Premier League.

IAN MAATSEN - age 18

Dutch full back Signed ON LOAN from Chelsea. Previously with Feyenoord, Sparta Rotterdam and PSV.

PAUL SMYTH - age 23

Northern Irish forward signed ON LOAN from QPR. Played 19 games for them during last four seasons (2 goals). On loan with Accrington  and Wycombe 2018-2020 (34 games, 4 goals). Northern Irish international.

DYLAN LEVITT - age 19

Signed ON LOAN from Manchester United. Midfielder described by Nicky Butt as "the best passer in the club". Welsh international.

 

Lee Bowyer was exhausted but positive as deadline day closed:

“Under the circumstances of everything, the embargo, the cap, everything we’ve had to deal with, I’m pleased. Steve [Gallen] and I were talking last night, once we knew about these two signings, it is miracles to have the squad of players we have, with what we had to work with and the circumstances. That is a very good squad to put together in a short space of time.

“I must thank Steve for his hard work, we’re shattered. And obviously I have to thank the owner, who has supported us financially.”
