A change of manager and the signing of five new players has done little to convince the bookmakers that Charlton fans will be witnessing much in the way of improvement in the coming season.
With three weeks to kick off the bookies don't even consider us to be likely play-off contenders.
They have us competing with Plymouth for eleventh place........
That would of course be a marginal improvement on last season but it would also be a massive disappointment for everyone in SE7.
Ipswich, who have signed Freddie Ladapo from Rotherham and Tyreece John-Jules on loan from Arsenal are the bookies' favourites for promotion at 7/4. Sheffield Wednesday (who have just signed Akin Famewo) are tipped for the second automatic spot at 9/4.
The play-off places are predicted to be taken by Derby (11/4), Barnsley & Peterborough (7/2) and either Portsmouth or Bolton (4/1).
Missing out, but finishing higher than us are Wycombe, Oxford and Milton Keynes at 5/1
Charlton are 11/2
We will continue to review the market as transfer window activity progresses.
