Second derby of the week – QPR in EFL Cup

Though all the talk has been about one Derby performance in recent days, another derby of sorts takes place on Tuesday evening at The Valley when we host QPR on their visit from west London in the EFL Cup.

Saturday's match against the other Derby was very much a game of two halves. After a shaky start, the Addicks came back strongly and will be hoping for more of the same against QPR. Although we are likely to see a very different line up in the cup game, this match will provide another stern test for Charlton.

QPR finished in the top half of the Championship last season and have made a similar start this time with one win and one defeat in two league outings so far.

Traditionally we haven't fared that well in what was once simply known as The League Cup with a few games going all the way to penalties in recent years. If we repeat the same feat here, win or lose, maybe it will give the manager a chance to run his eye over some of the marginal players in the squad.

Though these games don't usually reveal a lot about the course of the season, it's always a good challenge to feature in a London derby. Even if our record against London teams with blue in their club colours hasn't always been the best, let's see if we can get our second 'derby' win in less than a week.
