You may well ask !
Charlton's new signing (on a one year loan from Crystal Palace) is nineteen year old Jesuran Rak-Sakyi.
Born in Southwark he began his career at Chelsea before joining Palace in 2019. Soon after his arrival Roy Hodgson commented:
“For such a young man he's shown a remarkable maturity and a remarkable sangfroid. I’m very pleased with him, very pleased for him and we believe at Crystal Palace that he has a big future and will get better and better.”
He won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February 2022 and ended the season as the league's joint-top scorer with 18 goals from 25 games.
He becomes the only current Charlton player with Premier League experience having made two appearances in 2021-22 against Chelsea and Manchester United.
Qualified through his parents to play for Ghana he has represented England at under 20 level.
On signing for CAFC he commented:
"There were a lot of clubs interested but I chose Charlton because it's close to home, the fans are really good, the club has a big history and it gives a platform for young players to express themselves."
He confirmed that he is "direct" and he "likes to take people on". He said he has had a good pre-season and is "fit and ready to go when needed"
