FA Cup: support your local clubs on Saturday

With Charlton not playing on Saturday there is an opportunity to get out and support one of the local clubs aiming to reach the First Round of the FA Cup and a possible tie at The Valley.

In terms of romance we would suggest that the pick of the games is Cray Valley Paper Mills v Enfield Town. The Millers of The Isthmian League South East have already played seven ties to reach the final qualifying round. They have seen off Lordswood, Northwood, Uxbridge and Carshalton to earn the tie against Enfield of the Isthmian League Premier at The Badgers Sports Ground, Middle Park Avenue, Eltham. Our most highly placed neighbours Bromley join the competition in this round and are hosts to fellow National League club Wealdstone. Bromley are currently in the play-off places and will fancy their chances against Wealdstone who lost at lowly Kidderminster on Saturday. Added interest comes in the shape of former CAFC players James Vennings for the hosts and Charlie Barker and Charles Clayden for the visitors. Details:

Ebbsfleet United have made a reasonable start to their National League campaign but have lost their last two games against Eastleigh and Halifax. Nevertheless they should prevail at home to Slough Town who are in danger of falling into the relegation places in National League South. The game should give CAFC fans the opportunity to support Chris Solly playing at centre half for The Fleet.

Anyone who wants to travel a little further afield might go to Borehamwood to get behind Welling United in what looks like a very tough tie for The Wings.  Details:
