Promotion Race Hots Up

Out table-topping women's team face Reading at The Oakwood this Sunday (2pm kick off).

Their narrow 1-0 defeat to Women's Super League Tottenham in the FA Cup last Saturday showed that Charlton Women can compete with the best but they will need to take belief from their performance and to hold their nerve over the final seven games of the season if they are to maintain their position as the promotion race comes down to the wire.

They have still only lost one league game out of fifteen this season but their six draws mean that their lead is only two points. Things are so tight at the top that they could end Sunday with a four point lead or they could find themselves in fourth place.

Reading are in ninth place but are hard to beat, having not lost in their last four games. This run includes beating Charlton's promotion rivals Sunderland 1-0 last time out and getting  a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last month.
