Bookies fancy us for sixth place

Bookmakers generally have a pretty shrewd idea of what is going on so it is interesting to learn how they see things developing in League One over the next nine months.

It won't come as a great surprise to learn that Birmingham City are hot favourites (1/5) to win League One. Rotherham and Bolton are joint second at 10/11 with Wrexham and Huddersfield competing for fourth place at 5/4.  The bookies reckon that we are a good bet for sixth place (7/4) just edging out Peterborough, Stockport and Barnsley.

Our first opponents Wigan are predicted to finish twelfth (11/4) with first Valley opponents Leyton Orient dropping to seventeenth (13/2).

Favourite for League One top goal scorer is a fella called Alfie May at 4/1. His replacement at Charlton -Matty Godden - is predicted to come joint seventh after Jonson Clarke-Harris (Rotherham), Paul Mullins (Wrexham), Dion Charles (Bolton), Chris Conn-Clark (Peterborough) and Chris Martin (Bristol Rovers).

While most of those names will be familiar Chris Conn-Clark may not. He is Peterborough's latest signing from non-league having joined the Posh after 23 goals for Altrincham in The National League last season.
