Who is Kaheim Dixon ?

Charlton have signed nineteen year old Kaheim Dixon on a four year contract from Jamaican Premier League club Arnett Gardens.

He made eight league appearances for Arnett Gardens (two goals) having been transferred from Chapleton Maroons for whom he appeared three times.  However, in addition to these eleven appearances he has also represented the Jamaica national team eight times, having made a scoring debut for the Reggae Boyz in March this year. He was originally identified via Charlton's partners, Mount Pleasant, and his move to SE7 was assisted by Charlton’s strong links to Dixon’s national team.

Given Kaheim's limited experience it is not surprising that Charlton see him as one for the future.

Technical Director Andy Scott said: “We’re really pleased to bring Kaheim to Charlton. He’s a player who has been on our radar due to our strong links with the Jamaica national team and our Mount Pleasant partnership. He has impressed our scouts with his fantastic pace and technical ability and we are fortunate to have been able to call on Karoy and others who have been associated with Charlton for character references. He’s already represented the national team which shows what talent and potential he has and we are excited to see Kaheim develop under the coaching of Nathan and his staff. We’re looking forward to watching him progress and grow into the player we all believe he can be."

Nathan Jones added:

"We’re looking forward to working with him, developing him and making him a better player. He’ll need to get up to speed physically – not technically. He is a wonderful player technically. He has something really different. He is a good athlete but, with the greatest respect where he has come from, and the training regime he will have had – including the sports science – he needs to develop a little bit more. But we’ll see him soon. We’ve got to make sure we are careful with him and then we can see what he is all about.”

Here is an article about him from The Jamaica Observer after his international debut.

Kaheim came on as a substitute (as did Karoy Anderson) in that match v USA. Having scored after thirty seconds Jamaica were pegged back in the 96th minute and lost 3-1 in extra time.
