Bridon Ropes FC welcomes you

Mick Puszyk  - CAST member and Chair of Bridon Ropes FC - has contacted us to ask us to publicise his club and to encourage Charlton fans to lend their support.

Bridon Ropes compete in the Southern Counties East Football League Division One (Step 6) and play their home matches at Meridian Sports & Social Club -  just a short walk from The Valley. Like Charlton Athletic, their roots are firmly planted in the local community—and the majority of their committee are proud lifelong Addicks.

In fact, they are so committed to CAFC that they ask their league (SCEFL) to schedule home games around Charlton’s fixtures wherever possible, making sure their supporters and committee can follow both teams at home without missing a match.

Mick stresses that Bridon Ropes matches are "affordable, family-friendly, and built on the same community spirit that defines Charlton Athletic." He believes that backing Bridon is another way to support football in SE7—from the grassroots up.

The factory in Charlton, initially established as Charlton Ropeworks Ltd on Anchor and Hope Lane in 1912, was a major rope and wire rope manufacturer and employer. With a significant history in the area the company evolved and became part of the British Ropes Group in 1924 and later Bridon Ropes, before its Charlton works closed after 1995.

Mick continues: "Our club originated from their factory workers in 1935 - local working men and women who no doubt would have also supported Charlton Athletic. In the early days the factory provided its own football ground for the team on their site. We later moved to Meridian Sports Ground and changed our name from British to Bridon Ropes following their acquisition/merger in the early 1990's."

Bridon Ropes welcome you to their next home game v Rochester United on Saturday August 30th (kick off 3pm) so, if you can't get a ticket for QPR v Charlton, why not get along to support them?

Even better, they are at home again on Saturday September 6th when Charlton don't have a game because it is an international weekend. Bridon Ropes entertain Tooting Bec FC at 3pm

Admission costs £8 for adults with seniors and under 16's tickets costing just £5.  Entrance is through cash or card on the day of the game, or in advance from their ticket section www.Bridonropesfc.com
