Many Charlton supporters will have known much-loved fan David Thomson who died of bowel cancer in November 2023. He was known on Charlton Life as Cardinal Sin and he wrote the Drinking During the Game blog.
You may recall Paul Breen's eloquent tribute published on this site:

David's daughter Heather is doing a thirty mile walk to raise funds for Cancer Research:
"I am inspired by my father, who is survived by his wife and children, of which I am the youngest. My father, David Thomson, passed away on the 22nd November 2023 after a 5 year battle against stage 4 bowel cancer. We want to help others get the support they need as they go through their cancer journey and I want to contribute to Cancer Research UK's research into early detection of cancer, which would have helped my father. We want to be able to make an impact on other people's lives as they go through an indescribably painful time and we are determined to make others feel comforted by the community of people who have experienced cancer firsthand, or have lost someone to it."
We are planning to complete our 30 mile walk by walking the Green Link route in London, there and back. This route is 15 miles each way and crosses over 5 boroughs and connects over 40 green spaces in the city. As the Green Link walk is divided into four sections, we will start our journey in Epping forest, heading to Lea Bridge road, where Angel is walking distance. From Angel, we will make our way to London Blackfriars, where we will walk through the city to the end of the Green Link walk in Peckham, before heading back the way we came and finishing our journey back in Epping forest. We will be taking pictures at the landmarks and many of the green areas we meet on our journey as proof we are walking, we will be uploading these photos onto this fundraiser and on social media. My dad was always happy to see Tom and we are determined to show the light my father shone on people's lives through this fundraiser. Thank you so much.
