Charlton’s coach driver must be sick of the A1(M).
For the third away trip on the bounce the north east awaits and, by the end of the game, Gillian Kenney will probably have played more league minutes north of Middlesbrough than at The Valley. In case you hadn’t worked it out, Sunderland are this week's opponents (2pm kick-off)
Just like the trip to Durham, last week's trip to Gateshead was a success. Katie Bradley’s second half penalty was the only goal scored in a low quality clash with Newcastle and Sophie Whitehouse had to be at her sharpest to keep out a late equaliser. It is becoming increasingly clear that Karen Hills wants to stifle the opposition and hopes her attacking players can score from little moments of magic.
Sunderland should provide stiff opposition as they are also unbeaten. Last week's draw with Southampton will have felt underwhelming considering the Mackem team have beaten Durham and drawn with table toppers Birmingham. Make no mistake, this is a top of the table clash.
The home team will pack the centre of the park, lining up in a 4-1-4-1 formation. Charlton's two sitting midfielders will have a battle on their hands. The wide players though, should have space to exploit. Charlotte Newsham has started the season in flying form and will be hoping to provide a spark this weekend.
Addicks fans who don’t fancy a long drive can tune in on YouTube. Hopefully the team’s coach ride home is a positive one.
