After an impressive defensive display away to Birmingham City, table-topping Charlton are back at home on Sunday (2pm kick off) and it is Kids (under twelve) for a Quid day.
Katie Bradley’s goal from outside of the box secured the points last weekend but the real talking point is the defence. Birmingham were allowed a whopping 74% possession and took 22 shots but were limited to just a single big chance according to FotMob data. Sophie Whitehouse pulled off a couple of great saves while the defensive structure made sure that most of the Blues’ possession was pretty harmless. It wasn’t pretty football but it was certainly effective.
Southampton are this weekend's visitors and they currently sit fifth in the division - six points behind Charlton. Last season's Charlton top scorer Ellie Brazil returns to The Valley but it is fellow ex-Addick Mary Bashford who is top of the scoring charts for the south coast side with Atlanta Primus also performing well.
Having conceded only two goals in seven games so far the hosts have the best defence in the division but their visitors have the best attack, with 18 scored. Another defensive display could well be in order but Hills will have full faith in her defensive unit. Depending on results elsewhere, Charlton could go eight points clear of fourth place with a victory and really strengthen the possibility of promotion.
