Although they are in eleventh position in the WSL2 table with three wins and six defeats so far, Portsmouth will be no pushovers at Westleigh Park on Sunday (2pm kick off).
Two wins in November (3-2 at Sunderland and 2-1 v Palace) meant that they pulled level with Sunderland on nine points and established a five point cushion over twelfth place Ipswich. Last time out they held second place Birmingham 2-2 until the 77th minute before eventually capitulating 2-5.
Having completed a remarkable year without a league defeat Charlton will be looking to extend their unbeaten league run to 21 games and to at least maintaining their four point lead at the top of the table. Nearest rivals Birmingham travel to Crystal Palace.
Sophie Whitehouse returned from making her international debut for the Republic of Ireland last weekend to discover that she had won the British Gas Save of the Month award for the second month running. Her October save against Sheffield United was followed by a brilliant stop against Birmingham City which secured her team the victory.
Meanwhile it was no surprise that Karen Hills won the November manager of the month award - her team having won all five games including away at WSL Brighton in the League Cup.
The team return to The Valley on December 14th when they will play Watford in the FA Cup and again on 21st when Nottingham Forest are the visitors.
