After last weekend's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, Charlton are back on the road this weekend with a trip to Nottingham Forest (2pm kick off)
Forest are coming off the back of 5-1 drubbing away to Birmingham City and Karen Hills will be looking to pile on the misery. However, the Addicks attack was barely firing against the Blades on Sunday and Hills acknowledged that the team were far from their best. Lucy Fitzgerald scored a wonderful hooked finish and Karin Muya looked lively but the other forward players had virtually no impact. Elisha N’Dow continued her impressive form and Sophie Whitehouse made a few good saves. The Addicks will be disappointed to have conceded in their last four fixtures, a previously imperious defence is beginning to look a but more porous.
The Tricky Trees (yes, it is for real) are an attacking side, ranking in the top half of the division for possession, goals per match, shots on target per match and big chances. Charlton will need to be focussed defensively and those up front will need to be on their toes to chase long balls over the top that launch counter attacks.
With the third and fourth placed teams (Palace and Bristol City) facing off this weekend, a win could really solidify the Addicks top three position. However, Birmingham (with superior goal difference) are expected to win at Durham in a noon kick off so Charlton might have lost their top spot before they start at 2pm. Many in the chasing pack have strengthened heavily in January and Charlton will do well to keep them at bay.
