FSA reps meet with the FA

CAST vice-chair Heather Alderson was one of the Football Supporters’ Association representatives who met with senior FA officials at Wembley on Tuesday 31st March 2026 to discuss a range of issues affecting matchgoing supporters.

Attendees discussed international matters including the 2026 World Cup (travel and ticketing issues), UEFA Men’s Euro 2028, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035 bid – to be hosted by England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

In addition many domestic matters were discussed including the Women’s Game restructure, Men’s FA Cup final and semi-final pricing and allocation, prize money distribution, safety standards, policing, VAR, competition structure changes, and more.

"There was no significant update on playing domestic games overseas from the FA. A FIFA working group is reportedly dealing with this issue, but no public timeline for a conclusion has been set."

"The FSA raised concerns about how fan consultation is handled for competition changes, referencing the recent process around the EFL’s proposed changes to the Championship play-off structure."

"The FA set out its position: football fans already pay through tax and VAT on tickets and should not then be asked to pay again to cover policing. It was noted that VAT on ticket sales often covers (and in some cases exceeds) the policing costs for a stadium."

"The FSA shared findings from its recent VAR survey, which showed strong negative sentiment among supporters, particularly around the impact on enjoyment and spontaneity. Fans said decisions take too long and feel they have moved away from the original “clear and obvious” error principle."
