Rams to the slaughter

The long-awaited publication of The Championship fixtures has revealed that it will be Derby County who will have the privilege of being the first club to leave The Valley with no points next season.

The game takes place on Saturday 15th August at 3pm and will be broadcast on Sky Sports.

The excellent CAFC Facts & Stats reminds us that this will be a repeat of the opening day fixture on August 19th 1989 when goalkeepers Bolder and Shilton stood out in a 0-0 draw in front of a crowd of 8,593 at Selhurst Park. We are confident that there will be a slightly better atmosphere at The Valley this time round.

Our first away game is scheduled for the following Saturday through the Blackwall or Silvertown Tunnel to West Ham, although this fixture might well be moved for Sky coverage. We will know details of all fixtures to be broadcast and associated kick-off changes for the period to the end of September by 2nd July. By the end of July we will be informed of all changes up to January 11th. Finally, all changes up to 3rd March 2027 will be published by November 6th.

On the weekend before the Derby game Charlton will travel to the famous EC Charger Points Stadium in Cheltenham for a first round Carabao Cup tie. Final details are still to be confirmed.
