CAST calls on club to provide bag drop

As from this Saturday's game there will be a limit on the size of bags which can be brought into The Valley

The club is imposing an A4 bag limit for all supporters coming to The Valley. The only exemptions will be for those who have pre applied for medical exemption. Bags issued by the club shop containing goods purchased will meet the criteria but you can’t put extra bags into them. The club policy in full is here: https://www.cafc.co.uk/policies/bag-policy

We have been advised by the club that supporters requiring a medical exemption or bringing additional luggage should email safetyteam@cafc.co.uk no later than 24 hours before the relevant fixture. The club will work with them to find a suitable solution.

Many other grounds around the country including Wembley Stadium impose an A4 bag limit. However, most offer or signpost to a bag drop facility. CAST has been told that Charlton Athletic has no immediate plans to make a bag drop available

We have pointed out that many people come to night games directly from work and so the policy causes them a considerable problem because their bags may contain laptops. We also observed that some families coming to WSL2  games last year came direct from junior games and so had kit bags with them.

Since initial publication of this article, CAST has spoken with the club about these concerns and we are asking them to work with supporters to find a bag drop solution. Until then, CAST calls on the club to reconsider strict implementation of the A4 bag size policy.
