The 33 year old striker arrives at The Valley after a season with last year's relegated Leicester.

She brings a vast amount of experience gathered during her 18 year career which began in 2008 with Newcastle Jets in New South Wales. Her move to Charlton is the 24th move of her career. She has represented clubs and won trophies in Australia, America and Germany and in England she has played for West Ham, Birmingham and Leicester.

Her longest stay was with San Diego Wave where she made 61 appearances in three seasons. She has actually played more games (69) for Newcastle Jets but these are spread over fifteen years during which she signed for the club on six separate occasions.

She is not a prolific scorer - she has 47 goals from 281 senior appearances. However, at international level she has scored 33 in an incredible 173 appearances for the Australian national team - a number which makes her the most capped Matilda ever.

Van Egmond is the third Aussie who has joined the club this season, after Grace Johnston and Leah Davidson and she commented that "It’s really nice to walk to the changing room and have a couple of familiar faces from Australia here."

She is looking forward to the season starting:
