Charlton FA Cup oppo (update) is Oxford

Oxford United meet Wrexham Athletic Tonight with the Winners Meeting Charlton in the 3d Round.

It's funny how CAFC seem to be involved with the same team sometimes, but Charlton will host whomever wins tonight at the Racecourse - the Welsh club's home ground, and oldest international stadium. Wrexham also lay claim to being the oldest league club in wales, and 3rd oldest in the World, although now playing in the English Football Conference with the likes of Welling who sadly failed to overcome Plymouth at the weekend.

As mentioned Oxford whom Charlton beat at home in the League Cup earlier this season, seem likely to remain in Charlton's gravitational pull, being a division higher and doing well it seems, although they needed extra time to beat non league Gateshead. Of possible concern is that they will have some recent familiarity now with the Valley. That and Charlton's dismal cup form, only being slightly worse than current league form may be a worry to Addicks.

Finally for those of you not following such matters, Charlton recently joined Oxford in having ACV status for their ground, the west country club being the first in England to achieve the status.

The match is scheduled to be played on or around the weekend of the 5th of January.
