FA Cup Valley Shutdown – CAS Trust request clarification

CAS Trust have requested clarification after it has emerged only Lower West and North stands will be open as follows:

"To: Martin Prothero, Steve Bradshaw

We are concerned at the ticketing arrangements for the FA cup match on Saturday against Oxford United, which only allows for around 7,500 home attendance but crammed in to the lower West and North stands. We feel it would be very helpful if we could understand the business case for closing the East in order to reassure supporters. Specifically we would like to know the crowd prediction, and costs of the current plan versus opening the East stand as well, including expected revenues from catering.

Our concerns are around the precedent this sets and the further erosion of the status of the FA cup, and possibly later impact on league ticketing policies - we would like if possible reassurances on both of these areas.

We understand that the League cup match against Oxford only attracted just under 5,000 attendance, however this was round two of the League Cup, on a Tuesday night, in August when many are on Summer Holidays. The capacity we believe (East and Lower West) was around 10,000.

There are enough concerns around the likely team that will be put out for this and for cup matches in general, and we are concerned that this may send out the wrong message, and have a further negative detrimental impact on that, and possibly become a self fulfilling prophecy.

We have also had concerns expressed around the closure of a number of catering outlets, can we please have clarification on the status of these?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Barnie Razzell

Chairman, CAS Trust - The Charlton Athletic Supporters' Trust"

Steve Bradshaw has replied and we are awaiting a response, meanwhile we ask on another article have Charlton fans fallen out of love with the FA cup?
